Teething Is Common When The First Teeth In The Baby Begin To Form

As soon as babies begin to show the first signs of their teeth growing, they will begin to experience teething, which in some instances can pass off without the baby having any trouble, while in other instances the babies can have much discomfort and pain as a consequence. Thus, parents must be on their toes and look out for signs of trouble.

Look For Certain Signs That Warn Of Trouble Ahead

There are certain signs that parents must look for that will show them whether their young one is actually experiencing pain and discomfort because of teething troubles, and so should be able to take prompt remedial action to let the baby get relief from his pain and discomfort. Some of the teething symptoms include showing signs of becoming fussy, taking to crying in the middle of the night, and drooling as also dribbling in more than a normal amount, and finally chewing on fingers as well as on some objects.

Teething troubles also show up in the form of red as well as swollen and inflamed gums and wanting to have extra breast feeding and even bottle feeding. However, it may also happen that the baby rejects bottle and breast feeding because of the pain he is feeling when sucking on the nipples. It can also happen that teething makes your baby show poor appetite and not be able to sleep peacefully because of waking and sleeping intermittently.

Having realized that your baby is showing signs and symptoms of teething trouble, you as a responsible parent must do your best to seek out remedies that will help alleviate the condition and which will also provide prompt relief. Some simple solutions present them to a mother that can help in easing the discomfort and pain that the baby must be feeling.

To begin with, a mother can massage the swollen gums gently using her fingers which must be spotlessly clean before use. Another useful means to provide relief for teething problems with the baby is to use a washcloth that has been dipped in apple juice and which has been frozen and then placed on the mouth of the baby. Make sure that the cloth was thoroughly cleaned before and that excess juice was squeezed out, and that the cloth was frozen for about half an hour prior to using on the baby. Though there are a number of similarly useful means that can be used to ease the baby’s teething troubles, there are also certain things that should not be give to the baby in this regard.

For a baby that is no more than four months old, applying lotions or ointments is not recommended. And, another absolute no-no under any circumstances and regardless of what friends or relatives say is to never ever put alcohol in the mouth of the baby. Alcohol is real poison for a young one and should never be tried.

Once you get the required knowledge about what the dos and don’ts are regarding your baby’s teething troubles, you should be able to deal with such problems in confidence and with sureness of touch.
